Last year i had the privilege of being invited by Emilee of the Bruce Rock Community Resource Centre to run an Art for Your Heart Acrylic Painting Workshop with the theme of exploring happiness at the Bruce Rock Community Centre as a part of National Youth Week.
My participants got to play with mark making, colour exploration and techniques to paint happiness! I really loved meeting everyone and sharing my love of art with them. Getting to see the finished works all come together for a community display was really beautiful.
Regional Arts Organisation Community Arts WA recently posted the following article on their website.
Drug Aware Bruce Rock Youth Fest 2014 | Country Arts WA
I was really happy with the feedback provided by some of the participants of the workshop included at the end of the article, i didn't even know they gave feedback - lol i was so happy in fact i had a few tears of joy! "I'm doing what i love", i thought. "I'm so freakin grateful to be able to do what i love and share this big big art love with the community."The drive out into the middle of the Wheatbelt, 250kms east of Perth through our red earthy landscape was so beautiful. I enjoyed stopping in the little towns along the way like York and Shackleton which claims to have Australia's smallest Bank - its teeny and in this land of BIG Everything and my love of miniatures i found this quite delightful! Shackleton also is home to local Artist Steve and his studio, gallery and sculpture park full to the brim with rusty assemblages of creativity go say hi!
Near Bruce Rock is Kokerbin Rock, the third largest monolith in Australia and it was simply beautiful, you know that moment when you are looking out the window and your breath gets taken away in awe - i had one of those moments at the sight of Kokerbin Rock. There is parking and picnic spaces and there i was walking around this magnificent rock all alone in the middle of no where! It really was full to the brim with magik and inspiration and beauty. If i had some decent shoes on rather than glittery pretties i would have stayed much longer exploring - next time.
Thanks for the article Community Arts WA and thank you Emilee for inviting me along to do what i love.
Big big art love
Sarah x
